Family-run restaurant receives the Outstanding Award in the Restaurant of the Year – South East category
CHICHESTER, 11 August 2026
Masala City has brought another major hospitality honour home to Chichester, receiving the Outstanding Award in the Restaurant of the Year – South East category at the 15th English Curry Awards 2026.
The St Pancras restaurant was recognised at an awards ceremony held at Grand Station in Wolverhampton on Monday, 10 August. Masala City was one of only three restaurants singled out in its regional category, an achievement that places the independent Chichester business among the South East’s leading curry restaurants.
Family-owned since opening in 2002, Masala City has built its reputation on carefully prepared Indian cuisine, attentive service and a warm welcome. Its chefs specialise in tandoori, traditional and contemporary dishes, using high-quality ingredients and locally sourced produce wherever possible.
Co-owner Murad Hossain said: “To receive the Outstanding Award for the South East is a very proud moment for everyone at Masala City. We are a local, family-run restaurant, so to see Chichester represented on a national stage means a great deal to us.
“This recognition belongs to our whole team. Their skill, care and hard work are behind every service, and I could not be prouder of them. It also belongs to our customers, whose loyalty and encouragement have supported us for so many years. We will use this achievement as motivation to keep improving and to give every guest an experience that Chichester can be proud of.”
The accolade is the latest chapter in Masala City’s long-standing contribution to Chichester’s independent hospitality scene. Beyond serving diners from the city and surrounding area, the restaurant says being part of the local community remains central to its success.
Masala City is open seven days a week at 8 St Pancras, Chichester. Reservations and online orders can be made at www.masalacity.co.uk or by calling 01243 776008.
